Gazela

In my language it means a dangerous bridge. In history before it was a name for a beautiful, wild, gracious animal.

When you cross it just shut your eyes and drive fast.

Google maps

I really love these maps. This is how I plan my summer holidays. Find the hotel and then hidden beaches (on Greek coasts, usually). It is useful for my Geography lessons, since I often talk to students about history and they need to imagine where some events happened. It will be amusing to see photos of these times and what is it now. I often say to my students that they live on centuries of history and that there is hardly any place in Belgrade (Serbia) where anything historical did not happen.

November in May

Do you feel that is November again? Do you feel that we are so far from the summer break? The only hope is that winter break may be close.
Rain, rain, go away
Come again next May...

Prezi

I like dynamics of it. It looks really neat when you can go back and forth and everything is in front of you. Firstly, I did not understand how to organize how to make it go in order i want, but Paul explained it to me, and it is really working well. I must say I like the old Power Point, and I will not get rid of my old presentations, since there are other things to explore on it too.
My biggest problem is recording and this is something I need to work on in the future. I would really like to learn how to incorporate sound in my presentations.

Reflections once more

Now I feel better about Delicious, Prezi and Glogster. Delicious is something I need more time to make it useful, but the other two I already use with my students. They learn it so quickly (although forget to save it!)!

Delicious,Prezi, Glogster and the other things

I only created account for the Delicious, but I think that I need more time for this one! However, I was having trouble to open Yahoo account - because I could not find postal code for Serbia and Montenegro. In my life i was living in three countries and did not change a city. In some areas I still live in a country which does not exist, like in Yahoo...
I like Glogster and Voice Thread. I tried to make a unit with the first one. I like these kinds of multimedia lessons. However, there are some problems.
In MS we dont have a camera and voice recorder. I don't have smartboard in my classroom , or a projector. It takes long term planning for getting all things set.
Also, when I started working with my 8 grade students to produce a Glogster page - they mentioned that when they were doing it last year it was not on their account anymore. This I really don't like.
It also frustrates me opening so many accounts, writing down so many passwords. And when I lose things I made I am really disappointed. But, I don't mind myself. I question the students excuses and possible scenarios for not being prepared for the class. How can we deal with that? I blame my computer occasionaly...

Love poetry and Turbo Folk

My 7 and 8 grade students are studying poetry this month. One of the things they need to understand that interpretation is one of the key elements in understanding poetry (rhytm, tone...). After doing many nice love poems from respectful Serbian and other countries authors, it came to my mind to use lyrics of well known songs and read them as poetry. The best was reading turbo-folk Serbian lyrics. The texts are so shallow, that it is a super kitch art.
See my video Turbo folk. Those who understand Serbian will enjoy.
Here are some examples.
Dzej Ramadanovski Lubenica
Da si moja devojcica
zivela bi ko kraljica.
Danju ko kraljica,
a nocu ko carica.

Hej, mala, malena,
srce si mi zavela.

Da te vodim na vašare,
da potrošim silne pare,
na zlatne sandale
i svilene haljine.

Hej, mala, malena,
srce si mi zavela.

Igrali bi po pijaci
po pijaci i ulici
igrali, pevali
Cigani nam svirali

Hej, mala, malena,
srce si mi zavela.

Kupiću ti bela kola
i u njima sveta pola,
tri kuće velike
veće od Amerike

Hej, mala, malena,
srce si mi zavela.

Mozilla vs Internet Explorer

I like Mozilla better. Mozilla has many cool things as these you showed us in your video. Cool Iris makes me fell that I live in the future. I talked to my students and I see that more of them use Mozilla. It is full of tricks and samrt things.
I need to spend more time on it.
