My 7 and 8 grade students are studying poetry this month. One of the things they need to understand that interpretation is one of the key elements in understanding poetry (rhytm, tone...). After doing many nice love poems from respectful Serbian and other countries authors, it came to my mind to use lyrics of well known songs and read them as poetry. The best was reading turbo-folk Serbian lyrics. The texts are so shallow, that it is a super kitch art.

Today my students replied to this folk poetry and I got comments that they understand the difference between these poems and real poetry. They saw what has value.
